Shrimp fest this year kicked off with a bang! This year marks the 40th Annual Shrimp Fest and also was one of the biggest crowds that has ever gathered for the yearly beach celebration. Most restaurant vendors had gone through half of their food they had for the entire weekend by day two and were left to scramble to get prepared for the last two days of the festival. Not a bad problem to have if you ask me! The food vendors were serving up everything from Shrimp to Ice cream and cold beer. You could get shrimp every way you could imagine as well as crab legs, alligator bites, funnel cakes and even specialty drinks. Local craftsmen were selling their goods and local businesses set up tents. The weather was perfect and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
Each year the Shrimp Fest which is presented by Zatarain’s, attracts over 300,000 visitors to Gulf Shores to come and partake in the food, music and local arts and crafts. The two stages were jamming with 40+ artists starting at 10am every morning and well into the evening. There is even a 10k and 5k run held on Saturday morning which is a major event. Local Businesses and Restaurants definitely felt the effects of Shrimp Fest and many rental businesses offered fantastic specials to attract more guests.
This past weekend was Truly one of the BEST years for Shrimp Fest.. If you missed it this year, make plans to come Next year.. you don’t want to miss it! The weather is still beautiful and it’s not too late to get back to the beach soon!!
